Watch Hill
Ferry Schedule |
Today with over 250 houses, Davis
Park has evolved into a family community open to the
public with a life guarded beach, public restrooms,
store, snack bar, and an oceanfront bar and restaurant.
Davis Park has no roads or cars, only boardwalks which
makes it very charming and quaint. The Atlantic Ocean is
only a three minute walk from the ferry and you can
either bring your food and beverages or purchase then
when you get there. There are also barbecue grills
available for public use. Davis Park is a low key place
where you feel comfortable bringing your entire family
for a relaxing day on a pristine beach.
Davis Park Ferry Co., Inc. has been
owned and operated by the Sherman family for 60 years.
We began with two small wooden boats and the fleet has
grown to six ferries and a freight boat, all constructed
of either aluminum or steel. Fred Sherman Sr. and his
wife Kiki brought their sons into the business when they
were teenagers and two of them are still operating it
today along with various family members. At any given
time, you will see a family member either operating a
boat or manning the office or doing any other of many
chores. Because we are a small family business, we take
extra pride and care in the comfort of our passengers.
In the past three years we have purchased two vessels in
order to service our customers better.
Davis Park Ferry, Co., Inc. is an
authorized concessioner of the Fire Island National
Seashore, National Park Service, Dept. of Interior. |
